Thousands of early childhood parents and educators are better able to help their youngsters cope with life’s challenges following the delivery of close to three thousand copies of Sesame’s “Brave, Strong, Resilient” storybooks.
The books which form part of the hugely successful “Sesame Street: Let’s Learn!” webinar series held in June this year, was made possible through a partnership with the Sandals Foundation, Beaches Resorts and Sesame Workshop.
The two-thousand eight hundred and fifty (2,850) physical publications, which are geared to children ages 3 to six years old, add to the more than 300 free online resources previously made accessible.
Heidi Clarke, Executive Director at Sandals Foundation says, “We are extremely grateful to our partners at Sesame Workshop for delivering these incredible resources to help keep children engaged and learning.”
“Coping with complex issues and big feelings,” Clarke continued, “can be difficult for adults let alone our young ones who are trying to make sense of the world. We are happy to be able to support the Turks and Caicos education landscape by sharing these age-appropriate resources to supplement educators and parents’ approach.” Heidi Clarke, Executive Director at Sandals Foundation.
In June, the “Sesame Street: Let’s Learn!” three part webinar series sought to develop the capacity of parents, caregivers and educators to employ key tools in addressing some of the most essential needs of children.
By exploring topics that tackle school readiness, building resilience in facing tough issues, and coping with challenges that impact learning, including health emergencies such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the team shared practical tactics to support their early childhood learners.
To date, with the help of Sandals Foundation Ambassadors, books have been delivered to Charles Hubert James Primary School, Ianthe Pratt Primary School, Enid Capron Primary, and Thelma Lightbourne Primary School, reaching some 500 students.
The Ministry of Education will also spearhead a wider distribution exercise to reach more institutions.
Parents and educators may continue to access the more than 300 free learning resources online through Sesame Workshop’s digital platform at Sesame Street in Communities .
