Real Madrid Foundation Coach, Carlos Gustavo Albert Garcia, is in Negril, Jamaica for the first of a series of football clinics hosted through a partnership between The Sandals Foundation, Beaches Resorts and The Real Madrid Foundation. The exciting relationship was announced last summer and is bringing together 50 local children, ages 9 – 14 years for two days of intense football training from April 27 – 28, 2019.

Over the past decade, the Sandals Foundation has used sports as a tool to engage and transform the lives of children across the Caribbean. Executive Director, Heidi Clarke, said the partnership to put on these clinics represents a unique opportunity to expose local children to the experience of international and renowned instructors.

“This clinic is another opportunity for the Sandals Foundation to expose youths to grassroots sports programs and promote good values that will help contribute to the development of these young players. We are always looking for opportunities to increase the reach and impact of our sports programs and this clinic is chalking up to be an exciting occasion where our children can learn values, tricks and skills directly from professionals selected by the Real Madrid Academy, one of the world’s most acclaimed football clubs,” Clarke said.

When the partnership was first announced in 2018, Real Madrid Foundation' Clinics Manager, Andres Muntaner, said, "Working with Beaches Resorts and the Sandals Foundation provides a new opportunity to educate the Caribbean kids using soccer for everyone with the goal to foster grassroots sports to all levels of players while promoting good values and contributing to the development of young players in the region”.

This year’s clinic venue is being provided by the Urban Development Corporation (UDC). The next series of local football clinics through the Real Madrid Foundation partnership will get underway in January 2020 in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos.
